For When You're Ready
A Guide For Helping you Grieve
Helping you and your little ones navigate the journey of grief, this book offers tools and activities to help your child express and process their grief.
The practices will help keep the memories of your loved ones close while honouring your grief.

In 2011, my brother Walter suffered a traumatic spinal cord injury that forever altered the course of our family’s life. When the accident occurred, I didn’t have the tools to cope with my grief. After three years in the ICU, my brother passed away in 2014, yet I still hadn’t faced my grief.
In 2020, when my dad was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, I realized it was time to find the tools and rituals to not only process my own grief but also help my daughter, Sloane, navigate her own.
In April 2023, my dad, Rick—Sloane's beloved Big Guy—lost his battle with cancer. The practices in this book have helped us create space to approach our grief in a healthy way, allowing the love we have for our loved ones to flourish. As Jamie Anderson once said, “Grief, I’ve learned, is really just love... love with no place to go.”
If you are in a moment of grief, I hope this book offers you a gentle comfort within your pain—a space to honour your loss, hold your memories close, and discover moments of love and connection. May its pages remind you that love endures, even in the face of sorrow.
With gratitude,
Nicki
